LANCIANO-ITALY – At this morning’s start of the 10th leg of the Giro d’Italia in Lanciano, four EVOL medals were presented to the winning cyclists of the San Salvo – Roccaraso 9th leg.
They were presented to João Almeida with the maglia rosa, Arnaud Démare with the maglia ciclamino, Ruben Guerreiro with the maglia azzurra, and Harm Vanhoucke who wore the maglia bianca for João Almeida (photo LaPress).
The pendant/medal shaped like a stylized bicycle wheel, designed and handcrafted by the jewelry stylists Debora and Tiziana Cerrone, was inspired by a concept of future, continuity and hope.
This jewel, which also takes on the significance of an amulet, was chosen by the municipality of Lanciano to pay homage to the presence of one of the most important events of the Italian sports tradition.
“I felt so much emotion in seeing our creations in the hands of such champions” – says Debora Cerrone – “they seemed to be very curious about the jewel, and the sight of them going away guarding it jealously made me proud of our creation”.
“ I went back to my childhood this morning. I felt the same exciting feeling as when I watched the Giro with my father; he passed on to me his same passion for cycling. I can say that Evol took me back in time and the journey has been wonderful”.
“The world keeps spinning” is the slogan that makes Evol a jewel amulet linked to the idea of a renewal.
The artistic intuition, however, comes from a broader interpretation of current events, involving political, economic and environmental choices.
And the wheel becomes the way to project ourselves towards a more conscious lifestyle and to build a new future.
The Evol project has been immediately approved and incorporated into Alex Zanardi’s “Obiettivo 3 “ association – which aims to initiate and finance new Paralympic athletes – and which will receive part of our online profits to buy handbikes and bikes for disabled.
“Solidarity is very important to us” – says Debora Cerrone – “we are very happy to be able to contribute to such a noble cause and to know that the film director Pierluigi Di Lallo will also support our project”.
Di Lallo will donate our exclusive Evol pendant to an actress in his new film shooting in Abruzzo-Italy and Canada.
Canada was fundamental for inspiring the idea of the jewel during the stylist Debora Cerrone’s stay in Canada.
“When I was in Vancouver I saw lots of people riding bicycles. This silent movement separating the rider from earth and giving a great sensation
of freedom, made me think of a common symbol, a wheel, to represent progress and change. This is the meeting point of thoughts and art. An object that may identify those who love nature, movement, clean air and living in synergy with all that surrounds them”.
